Talented Designer

February 27th, 2009

Here’s another great Save the Date Magnet design that was ordered by a New and Blue customer. Anissa is a graphic designer and created this magnet from scratch! I love the gray and the orange together - very chic. I also love how she used the damask pattern in the design. Anissa and Nathan will be married on August 1, 2009 in Maryland. Congratulations you two!

A very cool Boston reception space

February 25th, 2009

I recently received a giant stack of east coast bridal planning magazines (thanks babe!) so get ready for lots of tips and tricks from that end of the states. Looking through Boston Weddings magazine, I found the coolest hotel reception space! If you’re in that area, you NEED to check out The Liberty Hotel. It’s a building that was formerly a jail and has been recently renovated. The lobby bar, Clink, extends to an atrium that features exposed brick, large windows, swanky furniture and wall decor, and fantastic chandeliers. Even if you don’t choose it for a wedding… go hang out there. :)

Hilarious Cake Toppers

February 24th, 2009

While we carry a wide selection of cake toppers, including some humorous cake toppers, you can also find some more unique ones at Archie McPhee in Seattle, WA. I saw the funny cake topper selection from the novelty giant featured on the Travel Network, but found they offer a small selection of the toppers on their website. According to the show I was watching, the store features approximately 25 hilarious cake toppers, but I only see a few online. You may want to swing by the store if you’re looking for others…

Free Wedding Websites

February 23rd, 2009

Wedding websites are so helpful for many reasons. For someone like myself who is perpetually organizing, it’s the perfect way to neatly keep all the important event information in one place. Guests can access it time and time again, plus you’ll save a bit of money by not having to print additional cards to match your invitations. Some have places to post pictures, tell stories, introduce key wedding participants, select a song to play on the page, and even online RSVP options. There are tons of places you can find a wedding website, but here are a few places to look for some stylish (and FREE) ones:

Life-sized Cutouts

February 20th, 2009

I saw a fun idea on another blog that I thought I’d share with you. If you’re considering have a photo booth at your wedding reception, add this to your list. There are companies, such as this one, that will produce life-sized cardboard cutouts from any photo. You could have a photo of you and your fiance turned into a cardboard cutout for your guests to pose with! Or even better - get those ones that have the head removed so they can put their heads in for your two as the “bride and groom”. How funny would that be?! It’s like Disneyland or something. It made me laugh - what a fun idea.
